About Us

The Adirondack Training Institute

The Adirondack Training Institute supports outdoor leaders and camp professionals through a series of conference and certification opportunities. Instructors and presenters come from national associations and are recognized experts in their fields.
These opportunities are hosted at YMCA Camp Chingachgook, a year-round retreat center and summer camp on Lake George on the southern end of the Adirondack Park. Camp Chingachgook is a branch of the Capital District YMCA.

On the east shore of Lake George about 20 miles north of Glens Falls, Camp Chingachgook sits on 200 acres surrounded by the Adirondack State Forest Preserve. We are easily reached by driving fifteen miles from Exit 20 on the Northway (I-87), only a one-hour drive north of Albany. Lake George and miles of hiking trails are accessible from the camp property, making it a perfect location to spend a few days preparing for the requirements of your profession or summer job.

Enjoy lodging at Chingachgook in rustic, one-room cabins and yurts equipped with electricity, bunks, mattresses, and heat during the winter months. Each cabin accommodates 8 to 14 with bathrooms and showers in a separate building within easy walking distance. There are separate cabins for men and women, and participants need to bring their own bedding and towels.* Several large lodges hold workshops, classes, and conferences, while numerous break-out spaces offer seclusion for conversation, reading and quiet study. Hearty and nutritious meals are served three times a day in our communal dining hall.

*Sheets, Blankets, Pillow, and Towel can be arranged for those flying in.

We will mail final schedules, packing lists, and directions upon receiving your registration and payment. Please visit the page specific to the conference or training you are interested in for registration forms.
